Suppose a Muslim converts to Judaism, does that make the person Jewish? If so the term Jewish should be applicable as religious even though the person is not of Jewish race.

I heard Jewish is matrilineal. If that is correct, when a male of non-Jewish marries into a female Jewish wife, does that make him Jewish? Does that make their children Jewish?

What exactly is Jewish then?

Why do people stare at me all the time? Even when I catch them staring they keep doing it. They just look at me with a perplexed/amused look on their face. They look at me like they are trying to figure something out or they are in disbelief. I'm pretty normal looking, so what the heck am I doing to get this reaction so often?

why are athletes and entertainers paid so much when in the end, their work is actually worthless. a football game or a song or a movie doesn't change a damn thing in this world. it doesn't save lives, win wars or help anyone get to work.

shouldn't the people who really do make a difference in our lives get paid more than entertainers and athletes?

the doctor can save your life. the engineer makes your life easier by giving you new cars, new phones, flat screens etc. the fireman protects your home from a fire. scientists cure diseases that would have killed us. none of those people make millions.

why do entertainers and athletes, whose works are worthless aside from the 5 minutes of entertainment we get, paid so much more than the people who are essential to our existance??

Whenever, be it at a social gathering, the office, etc., sushi is brought up nearly everyone gets excited and has to share what kind of sushi they like and try to convince people that don't eat it that they should. I love sushi, but it seems like so sort of cult, lol.

I'm not referring to friends, but people that you work with or other acquaintances. These are people that you don't have to have great relations with on a personal level.

When they treat you disrespectfully/rudely do you verbally confront them or do you just become rather distant towards them? Please explain why you do what you do.

Thanks in advance.

I recently came across a "what is your favorite color" post, and I replied with a color that i found appealing AND i thought adequately was a representation of myself. I'm wondering what you guys would choose.

My personal choice was maroon/ruby because it represents so many aspects of life and/or myself.
like sacrifice, love, passion, life, determination, death, the future, romance, betrayal, and of course, bloodshed.

Opinions?

my friend's father passed away a year ago, and she's been put on xanax and prozac for it. i talked to her today and she didn't sound happier. she sounded more desperate and angry and sad than i've ever heard her, and i am honestly disturbed by this. she said she felt completely miserable the first two weeks she was on the drugs, having suicidal thoughts and everything, but now she felt a little better. i thought stuff like xanax and prozac are supposed to make you feel better, not worse. i've heard that for some people, this may actually make you feel worse than better. so is this right?

1) No one could have ever afforded to support all African-Americans. Does that mean we should not have fought for their rights?

2) No one could have ever afforded to support all Jews. Does that mean we should not have defended them?

3) No one could ever afford to support all beaten women and children . Does that mean we should not interfere?
