It's pretty straight forward that you take in the top sails in heavy wind, but why? Is it because they will tear and blow away, or for some other reason?

Just thinking of the times, as a young adult spending time at my Grandparents Ranch - in Crescent City - The wonderful, innocent age where flowers, sheep and cattle were, the Easter Lilies, Ship Ashore, catching snakes, fishing off the pier, when life was so much more uncomplicated..........

Which one is worse?

I think heat is worse.. I can't stand it. I've been through 100 degree temperatures and its HELL.

The rain falls harder or seems more enhanced, particularly when the thunder (i.e. lightning) is right over head. I am accounting for the fact that this could be the beginning or front edge of a storm, but this occurs even during a shower or after one has commenced. It doesn't happen all the time, but quite often. My question is, does the expansion of the air/rushing back effect after lightning cause this?

Can the 2005 hurricane season just be categorized a crazy event in weather history?

The 2006 season didn't have any major hurricanes and so far the 2007 hurricane season seemes to be a bust like the 2006 season.
