Can the 2005 hurricane season just be categorized a crazy event in weather history?

The 2006 season didn't have any major hurricanes and so far the 2007 hurricane season seemes to be a bust like the 2006 season.

Well, admittedly, the 2005 season was one crazy season the likes of which I don't think any of us will see again in our life time. But, we don't know the future.

I sort of take offense that you are suggesting this season a bust with 6 named storms (two of which reached Cat 5), and one trying to organize between Bermuda and the Southeast Coast of the U.S. today) and the season only half over. That hardly suggests a bust of the forecast of an active season.

But, your question was about the 2005 season. The records we have only are fairly accurate back to the mid 1800's. Compared to the history of earth, this minuscule time of record gives very little information on whether the 2005 season was as abnormal as it appears, or not. We just don't know where exactly that season fits into the climatological picture.

I would have to describe the 2005 hurricane season as record breaking.
