Is it a tornado, hurricane, flood, tsunami, what?? It can be anything weather-related. Mine was tornado. I heard wind, thunder and obviously rain. I looked out my window and all I could see was dust and dirt and plants, like I was buried underground...freaky... after the storm, it was gold outside... I'm serious.... gold...

Hurricane Andrew. It was absolutely terrifying. I watched as half inch plywood was ripped off window after window on my house. My home was wood frame and when I looked where the walls met the ceilings I could see the wall moving in and out about a inch with each gust of wind. I had experienced other hurricanes, but Andrew was unbelievable. I really had doubts on whether I'd survive it and that's no exaggeration. If the storm had not put me in a state of shock, seeing the aftermath certainly did. I could not fathom what I was witnessing. Never again. Now I evacuate!

mine was hurricane wilma almost 2yrs ago. the first half of the storm wasn't too bad. just felt like a horrible thunderstorm. after the eye passed it got worse.. the windows were moving back and forth. outside things were flying from every direction. at one point i thought our roof was going to come off our house. after the storm i looked outside to see the damage. our place was "ok" ...my neighbors to the right weren't so fortunate. only a few hours before the storm the said it would be a cat 1, it came in as a 3. never again would i ride out a hurricane again.

I was in Mexico in 1998 during hurricane Mitch. It was a Category 5 hurricane and the place was flooding, the wind was crazy strong and the rain was like a solid wall of water coming downs, sideways, etc.

The worst storm I've been in was October 12, 1962, which we refer to as the Columbus Day Storm, we had winds in access of 112 mph, measured at the Morrison Stree Bridge in Portland, Oregon. Lots of tree came down, power was lost about 6:00 pm that night. There was a number of fatalites from that storm. TV station kGW lost its televsion antenna during that storm.
