Weather - March 2007

[Selected]: All categories Science & Mathematics Weather

It's mid march and in the 80s outside here in Central North Carolina. No one needs to use their furnaces, heat pumps, or stoves.

This is awesome. I thought I was gonna get hit hard by Old Man Winter after moving up here from Florida.

Their predictions never seem right. Yesterday they said it would be 55 degrees here for 3/14 and today they say the high is going to be 59 even though right now it is 61. They predicted yesterday would be in the low to mid 50's but it was in the low 70's. This happens everyday. Why is that?

We were at our friend's house in their kitchen and a huge storm rolled in. Lightning struck and we think it hit their backyard. When it hit we heard 4-5 popping noises in the kitchen from the direction of the backyard. The only thing against that wall was the fridge and phone. All appliances looked and worked fine. It did pop the breaker in the livingroom.

What was the popping noise we heard in the kitchen. My hubby thought maybe static electricity. Someone on YA said it may have been an arc but I can't get details thru a yahoo search and don't know what that is. Got any ideas? Got a link for me? Thanks :o)

we heard a popping noise in the kitchen (where we were all standing). What was that sound? Was it static electricity? All the electrical appliances in the room looked and worked just fine. It did pop a breaker in the Livingroom.

I work and live in a countryesk town, meaning animals, trees, and nothing to do. When it gets warm out the flies attack my office, I feel like Im in Amityville here. I don't really want to hang those things from the ceiling but I think it might come down to that. Why are they here, how can I make them go away? Why do they keep dive bombing me?

I am thinking about going to Oklahoma State University next year, and I am curious to know how the weather usually acts. I know Oklahoma is part of "tornado alley". I can remember when that horrible tornado hit Oklahoma in 1999, and again just curious about severe weather there.

Today the high temperature in Ferndale Wa. was 49 degrees. Tommorow it is forecast to be 45 degrees. So if the weather forecast is right does that disprove global warming? Of course it does. How else do you tell if it is getting warmer or cooler? Don't let me be the only person on Yahoo Answers to actually posts raw data. Go ahead. You might learn something!
