to take a shower during a lightning storm???? I heard it wasnt

The Mythbusters did several tests on this subject and busted it you have nothing to worry about because the pipes are grounded and electricity takes the path of least Resistance so the lightning will follow the pipes straight to the ground it will not make the jump from shower head to shower drain even with you running the water

I have heard that as well, from fairly reputable sources. Since water is a conductor, it can carry the electrical charge through the pipes. It's unlikely you would get electrocuted, but possible. I generally play it safe and don't shower during storms.

IT's not because the static from the lightning can get caught in your water pipes and travel through the water and shock you.
