The guy who wants to live at the poles had better realise that when the North Pole melts only sea will exist in that area. Mars is most unlikely to be an option. Away from the sea-shore would be a sensible idea. Given that a big shift in the distribution of ice and water around the planet is likely to put undue stress on known earthquake and volcanic areas, I would also keep away from places that are likely to shake or errupt. Now there are probably going to be other considerations, because the melting of the poles might not be the only result. The gulf stream is an underwater stream that travels from the tropics and passes the UK, turns around in the very North and returns somewhere across the Atlantic West of Europe. The Gulf Stream has been slowing down for a few years now, and when it stops, its effect on the Northern hemisphere will be to cool things down, not warm them up. According to some projections England could be under a sheet of ice 25 years from now.
So, away from the coast, away from areas affected by earthquakes and volcanoes, away from the impact of a cooling Gulf Stream.... I think that us Australians had better start looking at a way of making Ayers (Oops, sorry) Ularoo a little bigger.

Lots of great ans. here, but you might want to take into consideration the fact that everyone will be looking for that best spot. The northern areas will either be covered in an ice sheet or colder then normal all year long. People will want to be warm and those of us north of the border, Amer/Mex, will have a slight problem, to say the least. We just can't move into another people's country without being invited.
No one seems to have thought of that little item.
Canada & folks north of the Mason/Dixon line are all going to be headed south-or most of them-so where is everyone going to go? Welcome to hurricane alley folks!
A lot of folks will die due to greed and starvation too.
Safest place? No idea.

The ONLY right answer is pitch a tent on or near mount everest, til you start to see water coming, mid way up it would be safest, since it is the highest point from ground to sky, and remember to pack your socks, your bond to get a little wet, and dont forget the flash lights, and some teepee

Greenland. I intend to build a farm there. After all, the Vikings did it 800-900 years ago when the Earth was on average about 6 degrees warmer than now, not the piddly 1.6 degrees everyone is in a panic about.

Anywhere that is way above sea level. I would say in the middle of the country or in the mountains. Flodia would beee all underwater with Louisianna.

Sorry friend, there will be NO safe place to live if the polar ice starts continuous melting. World temperature will rise, high sea water level swallows land, sun rays to earth will be affected, animals will die because of no land and high temperature, fishes at sea will die because of high water temperature, ice on mountains start melting causing huge floods and mankind will kill mankind for food, water and shelter.
Our safe bet is to STOP global warming

Buy an old coal barge. Convert it into a home and you can live anywhere you want. As long as it floats, you will survive.
