I just heard a radio ad from a department store claiming that some fans will save you hundreds of dollars in energy and hydro by circulating warm air during winter and cold air during summer. Is this possible? If so, how?

P.S. My question is about the fans, not the "savings" in energy costs since I am well aware this are relative.

On two perfectly clear summer sunny days, one very windy and another with no wind, will you be less likely to get sunburn on the windy day?

I`ve been in at least 4 earth quakes, 2 of them major, and one major hurricane which produced a lot of flooding, but only minor flooding in my area, but no tornados, I`m sure they are all like a nightmare!

i've always heard you run a high risk of being struck by lightning when you take a shower during a thunderstorm, or if you're on the phone. is any of this true? and if so, why?

What was it like? Did it sound like a train?

It was June 10th.I was sitting at home(Staunton, VA) listening to the radio (I have a Philips AZ1574) and something very strange happened.I was listening to 89.9 and I decided to flip the dial around to see what else was playing.I turned to 89.7 and heard a station I had never heard before (and I know just about every single station receivable in the Augusta County area).I thought it might be the one from Richmond, but it sounded different, and it that didn't seem right, anyway, because we usually get Radio IQ from Charlottesville on that frequency. Then there was a different station on 88.3. 93.9, 95.3, 96.3, and on and on they kept coming in. Stations I had never heard of starting with the letter K.I could hear them clear enough, and I could tell what songs were being played, but I just didn't know who they were or where they were from, until I hit 102.3 and an ID said "Nebraska's Hot Country Y02."I couldn't ID any other stations but many of them matched stations in Missouri & Texas.

I don't want simple yes or no answers. I want explanations to back up why you think what you think. Go ahead and try to convince me that you're right.

Personally,I think it's complete bull.
The world is always going through warmer and cooler phases. Right now it's getting warmer because it's actually cooler than it was a long time ago.
The reason the Vikings were able to get to Greenland so easily is that the world was warmer then and there was less ice.
The world might be warming up a little bit but it's not Man's fault and nothing bad will come of it.

As temperature decreases with height it gets colder in the mountains . But this phenomenon is negated as 3rd floor is warmer than ground floor(especially during the summer).

before the storm reaches an area it can create powerful 'downbursts' of winds which IMHO can do as much damage as a small tornado. Why isn't more attention paid to "damaging wind'?
