They use a ouiji board.
Not hard to predict snow, sleet, and hail in Winter and rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Summer. Nice to throw in sunny or cloudy.
There are only so many different weather results.

The use something known as the doppler radar, which takes stats such as wind speed, ambient temperature and several other dynamic variables and given the data you can find with some probability the odds of the expected weather. These weather forecasts are not reliable and are more an educated prediction.

Radar is HERE & NOW...... and WILL NOT tell you what the weather will be like tomorrow.
We use computer modles for this.
Sure, I can plot light/dark green areas on a local county map and say this is my "Doppler Trak Forecast"..... I do it EVERY DAY......... but it`s not the actuall radar itsself. It is a forecast model.
I have also heard in several other topics that Doppler Radar "sences" Barametric Pressure..... again, this is NOT true. It is possible to estimate BP by doppler radar, but the radar does not detect it itsself.
Hope I have separated some fact from fiction.....
If you have any more questions..... you can E-MAil me at weather_wise911@yahoo.com I`ll be glad to help you in any way possible.
Hope this helps.
Take care...

A combination of several things - primarily understanding weather systems and their development, and using computer models and numerical guidance from them and knowing their tendencies. Satellite and radar images do not help a significant amount past the next day - what you'll be seeing after that can't be seen now.

Weather people gather tons of information. Examples: Temperature, Barometric pressure, wind speed, atmospheric conditions. They then put them into a computer. They get several different possibilities. Then, they see what is most likely to occur.

There are computer models that they use, it is not completely accurate, but there are patterns, which means there is a decent chance of being right.
