I want to know what two materials to use and how the field is set up around it. I want the charges to eventually dissipate into the air around them and not stay in the material. Would I use two non-electrically conductive materials, like plastic and something fuzzy??

how can the mechanical advantage of an inclined plane be calculated if only the distance, not height is included?

the question is a 200N car is raised a distance of 5 meters by an effort force of 500N.
how can the MA be calculated, if MA is calculated by length of incline/height of incline?

A hot object and a cold object are placed in thermal contact and the combination is isolated. They transfer energy until they reach a common temperature. The change ΔSh in the entropy of the hot object, the change ΔSc in the entropy of the cold object, and the change ΔStotal in the entropy of the combination are:

a) ΔSh > 0, ΔSc > 0, ΔStotal > 0
b) ΔSh < 0, ΔSc > 0, ΔStotal > 0
c) ΔSh < 0, ΔSc > 0, ΔStotal < 0
d) ΔSh > 0, ΔSc < 0, ΔStotal > 0
e) ΔSh > 0, ΔSc < 0, ΔStotal < 0

He said that if you can go faster than the speed of light and go forward----you can go to the future.
If you can go backwards_which is a great talented_----you can go to the past. So if his theory is true, scientists shoul make a time machine that vibrates so fast that it can beat light in a 9000K race! And it has to automaticly just push back and/or forward. But that's another story!

Has any pop-physicist ever therorized how the Heisenberg Compensators (transporters in Star Trek) could work?

I have been thinking that if the whole problem is not knowing where and when an ataom will be at any moment in time, couldnt some sort of compensator solve the problem via super-fast binary computing, you know like --IF atom here, THEN rematerialize there, IF atom there, THEN rematerialize here.... and so on... Doesn't that work in theory???

Also are there physicist who seriously question Heisenberg's uncertainty principle or is this canon (as much as say gravity is)

Hi. I have no mathematical background (at least not with vector calculus) and little scientific info regarding this theory- -but im interested

Can someone please just freak me out a bit with some of the basic ideas of quantum mechanics?

I know the obvious stuff---like from a Brief Historyo f Time, etc
but

What are the ideas with ex. sum over histories, a truck being a wave, virtual particles/reflecting millions of light yrs away --wave functions etc

I have an basic understanding of all of these --but not enough to scare myself --Can someone just expalin in the enough so I can scare myself a bit because it's so bizzare???

Thnks
