I took these pictures at 4:00am at a local gravyard. They have not been messed with by any editing program.

My camera is a FUJI FINEPIX DIGITAL 6.0 MEGAPIXEL camera, and is nearly brand new, and in very good condition - i.e I keep the lens clean, and free of dust/water, whatever.

On the night it was taken there was:

Good weather conditions, it was very clear, and not foggy at all, and the temperature was mild - not cold enough to turn your breath into steam.

Not raining, snowing, misty, windy - it was perfectly clear, and may I add - a full moon.

No people smoking around me - neither me or any of the people who I was with was smoking, or created smoke by setting fire to matches, or anything similiar.

So I present to you these two digital photographs, that have only been re-sized, noting else.

What makes dragon a dragon? It features: wings, body, it can fly and breathe smoke and fire. Airplane also does this, but it's not dragon. Lizards look like dragons but cannot fly, neither do they breathe smoke and fire.

How to modify a lizard or airplane to turn them into a real dragon. What are basic features sine qua non? Why a chair with two legs broken off is still a chair, but a cow with all four legs intact is still not a chair? OK. Cows give milk. Suppose we added an attachement to a chair (leather) that gives milk, it still will not convert our chair into a cow.

You'd say cow is a 4-legged animal that gives us milk and goes "mo-o-o". But now we do not know what "animal" stands for... If our cow besides these two things would be able to breathe smoke and fire would it be OK to name her a dragon that cannot fly?

That is, how to give a shortest class definition of an object that we are trying to describe to an alien (legal, illegal, that does not matter)

There is a (technical / scientific?) word that temporally escapes me. Wondered if you can help?

It refers to the ability of a system to be defined by the absence of another system rather than in it’s own right.

It’s easier to explain by example.

Cold can only really be defined by the absence of heat (as we measure heat not cold). Therefore cold is a ?????? property.

(I have had no joy on the words section so thought I'd try here)

Any ideas?
