Protein digestion helps break the proteins down into the individual amino acids, so the amino acids can be built back into the specific proteins that the organism needs.

Examples:
A brick chimney blows down. I take the bricks from the chimney and make a brick sidewalk.

I take a headline from the newspaper and cut the letters apart. I glue the letters on paper to make my own message.

You must have enzymes in your stomach and even in the mouth to break down the food into amino acids for use by the body. Amino acids are the building blocks for growth and repair. Live active enzymes or the good bacteria. Some people are low on these enzymes and then they have a hard time digesting their food, especially protein which is the hardest to digest.
Your digestive tract has many different bacteria to help you break down food into a usable form. Eatting lots of leafy green veggies help keep the good bacteria in your system plus you can add acidolphilus or live active enzymes to help the digestion. Acidophilus can be taken in capsule or liquid form mixed with liquid like milk. Enzymes can also be taken in capsules or in foods like yogurt with live cultures.

The breakdown of food begins in the mouth, where good bacteria live in the siliva. Your body can not utilize nutrients until they are broken down into a form that can be metabolized.

our body breaks down protein to its building blocks of amino acids then synthesizes the proteins we actually need from those building blocks. some of the proteins we eat our body can't use as a whole. and certain amino acids are essential...meaning we can't synthesize them from scratch, so we get them by breaking down proteins that contain them, that have been synthesized by other organisms.

The same reason you have to remove a used transmission from an old car before you can install it in yours.

You can't use it until it's been unhooked from the rest of the old vehicle.
