In a particle size distribution experiemtn, a certain soil sample was examined and the size of all particles measured. In this unusual soil only 6 sizes of particles were found, and the percentages of soil particles in the differnent size groups were found to be:

Size(in microns) --- % of soil particles
100 --- 15
300 --- 12
500 --- 18
750 --- 35
1250 --- 15
1500 --- 5

Now, a single particle is selected at random, and its size (X) is measured.

a) Fine the probability density function of the particle size.
b) Give the cumulative distribution function in tabular and graphic form.
c) Find P[400 < X (less than or equal) 1300].
d) Find the mean and standard deviation of the distribution.

I don't expect anyone to answer b) fully, but as for the others, I'd be grateful for help on. Thanks.

Because according to some articles, this concept is false. According to them, the main objective of science is to develop the students' thinking skills so that htey can understand the world qround them, and not to make the students to memorize concepts in science. What can you say about this?

The diameter of a certain atomic nucleus is 6.50x 10-5 pm and its mass is 9.40 x 10-25 g. What is the density of the nucleus in grams per centimeter cubed ? Assume the nucleus is a sphere with a volume equal to 4/3 P r 3

Enter a numeric answer only, no units. Use at least the correct number of significant figures.

To enter a number in exponential notation use an e for the exponent
eg 2.34 x 106 enter as 2.34e6 2.34 x 10-16 enter as 2.34e-16

Density = Mass / Volume

Mass = 9.40 x 10-25 g

Volume = 4/3*3.1415* (6.5x10-5cm / 2)^3 = 1.438x10-13

Density =6.537x10-12 gm/cc
how to write this without using 10.

I tried 6.537e-12
i tried 6.6e-12
but it didnt work!

Proponents of Intelligent Design certainly seem to think so. They seem to think that the idea of an "Intelligent Designer" is scientific. This would certainly seem to place "God" within the universe as an object of empirical study. What do you think? Can we learn about "God" using beakers and test tubes? Is it conceivable that an "Intelligent Creator" might someday be a necessary part of some scientific theory? What are your thoughts on this issue? I'll probably ask this question in a few different categories to get some different answers and perspectives. I write this question because I saw an article in my local paper advocating intelligent design in science classes. I'm definitely writing a letter to the editor. :D
