Nucleotide. Specifically, a molecule with a phosphate ion bonded to a deoxyribose sugar (a 4 carbon cyclic sugar), with one of 4 chemically active chains attached on to the sugar - Adenine, Tyrosine, Guanine or Cytosine.

DNA is made of 4 nucleotides (the name of the monomer) : A, T, C and G.
RNA has :U, A.C and G.
