If a probability question states that 4 cards were chosen at random from a deck, what is the chance that not all the cards are diamonds?
So when it says not all the cards are diamonds, does it mean that it can only either be 1 diamond and 3 non-diamond or 2 diamond and 2 non-diamond or 3 diamond and 1 non-diamond.. well thats what i think but my teacher insists that 4 non-diamonds is also an option.. so who's correct?

Would Fields Medal be awarded to someone (eligible of course) who is able to prove if the Euler-Mascheroni constant is rational/irrational? If not, and it was proven to be irrational, would it be awarded if it can be proven to be algebraic/transendental?

1) New York City has 11 letters

2) Afghanistan has 11 letters.

3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters.

4) George W Bush has 11 letters.

5) The two twin towers make an "11"

This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting:

1) New York is the 11th state.

2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number

11.

3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11

4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers.

6+5 = 11

5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11

6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911.

9 + 1 + 1 = 11.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:
1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. >2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year.

Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.

4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers

incident.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:
Now this is where things get totally eerie:

The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic

holy book:

"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace."

That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran.

Still uncovinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end:

Open Microsoft Word and do the followingTRY THIS FOR REAL)

1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first

plane to hit one of the Twin Towers.

2. Highlight the Q33 NY.

3. Change the font size to 48.

4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS 1

scary huh??

Are you sure?

Consider this:

a doesn't = 0 and is a positive number

1) a = b
2) ab = b^2
3) ab - a^2 = b^2 - a^2
4) a (b-a) = (b+a) (b-a)
5) a = b+a
6) a = 2 a
7) 1 = 2

Are you still sure?

The Pythagorean Converse: You can take a rope and tie 12 equally spaced knots in it. You can then use the rope to check that a corner is a right angle. Why does this methos work?

Weird question, I know, but here is the background. A friend and I have been arguing about how long we would live if old age or sickness wasn't a factor. For example, the only way you would die would be by some kind or accident or human intervention. Assuming you lived a normal life (planes, trains, automobiles, city life), my friend thinks that the average expected lifespan would be around 250, and you'd be most likely killed in a car wreck eventually. I think it would be a lot longer.
If there are any actuaries or people good with calculating expected life spans I'd be interested in hearing what they thought.

Thanks in advance

I have worked to create several equations. They relate to the measurement of empirical probability. With them, I feel that I can give accurate predictions for items in a series of events. The only thing is that I am an ametuer, so I need an experienced professional to check out my theory...Is there anyone out there who qualifies or at least knows where I can go to get some help w/ this? Pls. leave an aswer or send a message to my e-mail if you think that you can help me out.....

Forever Grateful,
