Obviously (I think!) one lap of a standard athletics track is only 400m when you are in lane 1, the inside lane, how much further do you travel when doing a lap in lanes 2, 3, 4 etc., one lap being from the main start/finish line back to the main start/finish line i.e. without staggered starts?

The area of a triangle with sides a, b and c can be expressed by
A = root{s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)} with s being half the perimeter.
A beautiful aspect of this formula is, that a, b and c can be exchanged cyclically.
Is there an similar formula for the volume of a tetrahedron with edges a, b, c, d, e en f?
V=Ah/3 is far from sufficient.

No its not homework, I'm trying to understsand the calculus-based derivation of Pi. By "Pythagoras'" theorm, a circle centred on the origin represents this relationship: y = the function above. By taking strips of the circle from from x = -R to x = +R, the area may be composed. By reducing them towards zero width whilst multiplying towards infinity in number, the area may become accurate. Newtons integration makes the calulation exact. The integrated funtion = pi times R squared, we are told. Can anyone help me to understand how this works please?

that contains three blue and two red caps. The men are positioned in indian file in front and facing a wall. The man closest to the wall we shall call A. The second man standing behind A and also facing the wall we will call B, The third man standing behind B and also facing the wall we will call C. Caps are taken out of the box at random and placed on the heads of the three men. Of course, C can not see the color of his cap but can see the caps on A and B. B cannot see his cap nor C's cap but can see A's cap. Finally, A cannot see neither his nor A's and B's cap. C is asked if he knows the color of his hat and, after thinking for a few moments, answers that he doesn't know. Then the same question is asked of B who, after thinking for a few moments also answers that he doesn't know. Finally, A is asked the same question and, after thinking for a few moments, answers correctly. Now, the question is: What is A's cap color and how did he know?
