difference between consecutive terms is:
8 - 3 = 5
16 - 8 = 8
29 - 16 = 13
50 - 29 = 21

Look at the differences, each difference is the sum of the previous two differnces.

So the next difference would be 13 + 21 = 34.
So, the next term is 50 + 34 = 84.

Add the two previous terms and then add 5.
3+8+5 = 16
8+16+5 = 29
16+29+5 = 50
50+29+5 = 84
