What size cable would one need to supply 400 amperes, 380v 3phase 60 Hz at a distance of 1000 metres? Or is it better to go to transformers and high voltage. All power is by way of gensets. Right now we have numerous gensets on this farm. All are critical power scenarios. Any advice is very welcome. Cheers.

Did Claude-Louis Navier and George Gabriel Stokes came up with their equations which accounted for viscocity by studying each other's "money shots?" I mean, there is very valuable data to be had there and I just wonder if they took it into consideration. Or would the difficulty in establishing a constant velocity render it moot?

A mass, which is connected to a string, is placed on a frictionless surface. At the end of the string there is a 1N weight. The string is guided by a frictionless pulley, so that the 1N weight is suspended on air and it is not in contact with any surface.

a) What must be the tension on the string so that the mass slides on the frictionless surface at a rate of 1.45m/s^2?

b) What is the value of the mass if the tension of the string is found to be 1.5N and the mass is now at rest?

Someone said that foil is an insulator, but i thought aluminum foil DO conduct electricity. I remember doing labs in elementary school with foil to turn light bulbs on.

Hello all again, well i am having a problem with motion. Here is the problem. You want to know how high a bridge is, so you go out to the middle of the bridge with a stone and a stopwatch. You drop the STONE over the side. It hits the water 4.6 seconds later. How high is the bridge?

OK well at first i was just thinking of multiplying 9.8m/s(2) and 4.6(s) but i don't really think that is right and this is where i am kind of stuck now. Can anyone help?

How can I correlate the lifetime of a spring relative to the percentage of it's elastic limit that the spring is expected to cycle through? Is there a rule of thumb or is can find a function that relates lifetime versus percentage of elastic limit? Thanks.
