The key way is worn on my motor and a the standard 1/4" key will no longer hold the load without play.

What is the best way to cut a new keyway on a motor?

You can take it ot a machine shop and have them mill it out for a 3/8 inch key then use a 3/8- 1/4 step key.

Or.... if you are a tightwad you can take a 3/8-1/4 step key and grind it down until it fits tight in the shaft. That is how I would do it, I'm a tightwad.
