RE:
Does aluminum foil conduct electricity?
Someone said that foil is an insulator, but i thought aluminum foil DO conduct electricity. I remember doing labs in elementary school with foil to turn light bulbs on.

haha thank you!! u know what brings me here? well here's the story.... my Sony Xperia Z Ultra magnetic charger got slightly damaged; one of the protruding pins got stuck all the way deep inside its orifice and i couldn't get it to protrude out anymore for some reason it stayed that way; so without any further ado i born a eureka effect and pushed a tiny ball of aluminum foil into the orifice to make it fill the voided space that makes my phone lose contact with that pin. haha so i did a research prior to that whether aluminum can conduct electricity and tada proven true! I was being McGyver today haha

It is a conductor. It used to be pasted in strips along storefront windows to make a conductive path as part of burglar alarm systems. If the window was broken the foil ripped and opened the conductive path to cause an alarm.

Yes, of course. Next to Gold, Silver, and Copper, Aluminum is the best conductor there is.

Depending on how much you need ,might use reflective mylar survival blankets sold in outdoor & boating stores "Aluminized" plastic, don't think it is conductive, better check. They are about 4' x 8' & less than $10. Otherwise search plastic films ,reflective mylar film

Some folks used to use it to wrap the old glass style fuses in cars after they blew. It works well enough to start a fire, since the whole purpose of a fuse is to prevent just that.
