When they say that a submarine is at a certain depth (like 200 feet below the surface), from what point on the sub are they measuring from? Is it from the midline of the sub, or the top of the conning tower (which, on U.S. Navy subs, is probably 50 feet closer to the surface than the midline)?

I have Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing by David A. Madsen, but it's too much of a text book. I'm looking for something that I can just reference while doing drawings whether it's a book or a website. Thanks.

I am planning to make a 4" to 6" struc I-beams frame to do the job. the dimensions of the house is 40' by 24' from the inside of my basement. I am trying to make a rectangular frame on the perimeter of the basement, with 2 center beams along the 40' middle of the house, and few i beams at 90 deg to make it square. So basically, Two frames of 2X40' beams and about 5X10' beams. These two frames connected at the 40' length by 5X4' beams.
This frame is going to be used to jack-up the house and additional steel columns are going to be added on to the bottom of the frame to prop up the house (like stilts) on the inside perimeter of the footings.
The house is a one story ranch built in 1955 or so. I plan to lift the house on to these columns premanently, and frame the void between the top of the old basement wall to the new cealing height.
I want to find out how many cloumns would i need under each beam, how far apart they need to be, and how much weight it can hold?

Take into consideration the impact on our eco system; ships coming into harbors; recreation, etc. Please think your answers through. I realize this is a far out question, but if it turns out to be feasible, it would provide a necessary service to humanity at a very low cost forever, after construction.
Please be serious in your answers. Thanks

If a golf ball leaves a tee with an initial velocity of 80ft/sec at a 24.45 degree trajectory angle, calculate how far the golf ball should travel.
Use 32.15 ft/sec for acceleration due to gravity.

Please help me...I am so confused and I have no clue to even what formula to use and I cannot find the right one on google...or understand it...

thanks so much =]
