Okay, so I have a utility battery (which basically is like a car battery) and I am going up north for the summer and I want to be able to run a stereo. But because there is no electricity at the place I'm going it's not just plugging it into a wall. Also I want to run a big stereo not one of the small ones that you can carry around with D batteries in it. So I have the battery, and was hoping that some one could tell me where to go from here. My biggest worry is the current flow, do I need some type of converter to convert energy so that my stereo won't fry? Or will a switch and an outlet do the job. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

There has to be something that you can use to test electrical wires but i dont know what. Like the black and white wires that come straight out of the wall. I have a ceiling fan that wont turn on and I was wondering if i can buy something to test the wires with to make sure that the current is still getting to the fan. Yes, the light switch is turned on. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

It seems like flashlights that are powered by cranks take some effort to turn and don't generate enough power to illuminate anything but lame LED lights. Is there a formula to determine the tension vs. power generation in a crank. Or is electrical output determined by revolutions... So tension is created with a big gear spinning a small gear?

It may seem to be very easy to give either a 'yes' or 'no' answer to this question. But, as I read this forum and many others, it seems to me that many people confuse the two subjects. From my perspective, I do not understand why Yahoo has made engineering a sub-group under Science and Mathematics. Do others agree?
