can RFIDs be used in a system to find lost objects, like in the system which tells u where r ur car keys if u lose them, by beeping. can RFID tags kept at a far distance be sensed??

No, that isn't a use for RFID. RFID is more for identification purposes. For example, I have a couple of ID cards that have RFID chips in them. When I walk in front of the appropriate doors and hold the cards up to them, they unlock for me. Also, RFID chips have been implanted in animals for identification purposes. They cannot be read from very far away . . . I've seen it done in the field. I heard of some hackers at DefCon getting a reading from 50' away a few years back, but most readers are not that sensitive because it would interfere with their function. I think stores use similar technology to prevent shoplifting, but I'm not really sure. You might find better information on wikipedia. Have a nice day!
