Hi,
I am a chemical engineer also having a two year diploma in mechanical engineering. At presently I am involved with the instrumention side of the mining industry. Its been about 13 months since Ive graduated with my bachelors in chem engg.

I was wondering if it was better to specialize in instrumention or would it be better to work into a conventional process position. I ask from the long term perspective of money, job satification and opportunities later on down the road perhaps in different industries like oil and gas.

I hear the process guys make well and so do instrumention and at this stage I am a big overwhelmed and confused into which direction I should mould my career into.

Thanks

Why does an internal combustion engine go faster just because you feed it more fuel and air. The burning of fuel in the combustion chamber has a fixed and maximum rate of burn so how can it speed up?

Seriously, I just don't get it.

This is what I know so far. They can make blue prints to create factories, buildings, probably plumbing too.

Aside from creating factories, I don't see why making buildings wouldn't be archetecture, and plumbing wouldn't be a plumber.

I probably missed the point far off, please help me understand. I know there are many types of engineers too, but what do they all have in common that makes each of them an engineer?

I am wondering, specifically about pulsed energies. Example say 10 joules at 12V were discharged extreemly fast, say 1mS, what would the minimum wire size be? I can find AWG specs fine, but no info with regards to pulsed or frequency apps.

I am looking to find approximate diameter, height, and internal volume values for K, H, and similar cylinders used by hospitals for gases like Nitrous Oxide, Nitrogen, and Oxygen. If you know the values, that would be great. If you can point me to a website with such info, that would be even better. Thanks.

I'm guessing this has to do with the magnetic field of the earth. But I cant find any more detail on it. Why does the magnetic field exert a magnetic force in the direction of the poles?
