Area is length times width so let W be the room width
L = W + 5
Area = LW or W*(W+5) = W^2 + 5W = 104

Rewriting in standard form
W^2 + 5W -104 = 0

Solve using quadratic formula
W = 8
Since L = W + 5, L = 13

Check:
8*13 = 104
