We are considering a house that is in an area where there are very large metal towers (they're kind of shaped like a person) that hold up area power lines. I am not talking about the regular power lines that go along the street, but the ones that cut across roads, through fields, etc. Besides the obvious danger of electrocution, are there increased risks (such as cancer/radiation) related to living near these structures?

I have a 18V 1.7Ah NiCad Rechargeable Battery. I want to put it in my closet and not use it for a year.

Can i just completely discharge it and just store it in my closet for the year, then, after the year, recharge it in full and use it with no problems of any kind? Is that how NiCad's can be maintained for the longest possible time?
