A few colleagues and I disagree about the answer to the following problem:
A shower door hinge should sit at 135 degrees. The door piece is attached to another piece of glass that is fastened to the wall at a 90 degree angle. The opening side of the door also rests against another piece of glass that is fastened at a 90 degree angle to the wall.
We inspected some samples that measured up to 139 degrees (4 degrees too wide). If the door is 1 meter in length, how far away from the second glass sheet would the opening end of the door be sitting (while the door is closed).
How did you solve it?

Thanks!!

Okay so im a high school senior right now and i am currently taking Advanced Placement Physics. Our teacher is a really really bad teacher and he doesnt teach he sleeps through class. If he taught well, we woudl be able to do problems he assigns us in five minutes. Instead we take up 40 minutes to do SIMPLE EASY problems.

Now i was always fascinated by bridges and tall buildings and roads and how much it takes to let them withstand all these stress es on them.. Anyways now that im taking that AP Physics class im really starting to not like physics. We dont do homework in the class and we dont try simply because the teacher is very bad and doestn teach. Its a joke to me right now and im thinking of not becoming an engineer. Also i am not a genius in math...i love math but it takes some time and effort for me to understand it. Should i go to become an engineer or should i go find something else to do with my life?

My 4th grader is making a lighthouse with a simple circuit and a 9 volt battery. We are using a flashlight bulb as the light. When we turn it on it lights then the light steadily fades and the battery gets hot. If we take out the battery and let it cool it will turn on again, but the same will happen. We have tried changing to a smaller gauge of wire, putting a new switch on and even replaced the battery but it still happens. Any ideas would be greatly appreacated.
