we are builting a dam for domestic purposes on the highlands (of 2400m asl) to supply it to lowland (0m asl). the horizontal distance would be 60km at most. for this purpose we are going to use a 250mm diameter pipes, from the dam to the lowland city.

It is just came to mind if the gravity difference could be of any use, as we will have high potential energy. Is there any technology that can change this potential engery (hydroulic) of the piped water into some other form like electical energy that would be used for other small purposes. give me if you have any clue, it is really not a hypothetical quiestion.

thanks
Filmon

let us start assumig that electron is moving opposite to the current, with a velocity approximate equal to light velocity that is 3 lakh km/sec. we know the mass of electron is very low that is 1840 times lower than the proton. but it has higher velocity, so evry partricle has a inertia. Now suppose we a cut a live wire in which current is flowing, what will happen. Is the electron fall out because of inertia ? Please anyone can clear my doubt.

I analyzed a signal I got from a sensor reading a periodic signal. The waveform looks pretty periodic to me. It froma pump that pumped once every few seconds. However, in the frequency analysis, the dominant frequency seems to be 0 or very close to zero. Is ther any reason why this would happen? The wave form is clearly periodic to me just by looking at it.

I'm just interrested, I saw a documentary by national geographic, and read an article in popular mechanics, Both did not to explain anything, that I could understand, I'm a bit of a stickler for facts and figures so I'm looking for research papers. There must be some out there, I'm trying to persuade my inquisitive nephew it was not controlled explosions.
