Currently the transformer supplies the backup invertor and then the backup invertor supplies to the light phase(5A wiring) in series. This way the voltage correction is not very effective (i live in an area with a lot of fluctuation in voltage ) . What i wud like is to connect the tranformer and the invertor in parrallel to the light phase so that voltage correction is more efficient ..... but the problem with that is ... then when the mains power fails and the backup invertor turns ON then the current will also flow from the invertor to the light phase to the transformer ,back into the supply from the govt. cable and to other ppl's houses!!! pls help

Obviously circles wouldn't work, but what advantages do a hexagonal profile have over triangular, square, pentagonal, heptagonal, etc.
Or does the shape have little or no impact ?

I don't understand what means coherent interferometry and low-coherence interferometry under subtopic "types of interferometry". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interferometer

Low-coherent interferometry uses white light so that its coherent length is very short, able to measure very small path difference.

Coherent interferometry uses laser so that its coherent length is very long, is that means its resolution is very low? But why it says the interference is capable of very accurate (nanometer) measurement?

What means distance can be measured by phase difference? Two coherent sources differ by 2pi can be said in-phase (phase diff zero) right? Phase difference 0.5pi same with phase difference 1.5pi right? Then how to measure distance?

Why coherent interferometry suffers from a 2π ambiguity problem but low-coherent interferometry not?

Why OCT resolution is given by (2ln2/pi )*coherence length?

Any references for the applications of both interferometry?

I am building a commuter boat with two engines for cruising across a large harbour (5 miles wide). To make my first prototype, I was thinking about buying two identical canoes, connecting them with a platform, keep about 1m of space between them, and put two seats onto the platform. Speed would be about 10 knots max, and the water quite still (harbour). The boat's upper body will be a tent tarp over fibreglass rods, like an igloo tent. Will that cruise and maneuver OK, or am I going to be in trouble?
Thanks.

I am building a zero-emission power boat (10 knots, range 25 miles), and I don't want to use batteries. So I have decided to use a flywheel, which will be wound up by a wind turbine. Only problem is: You can't just walk into K-Mart and demand one. Does anybody know where to get these things?

I am making a science project and the device needs to run for a very very long time without wearing out. How can you tell which electric motors last longer? Are there industrial motors that will last longer than hobby type electric motors? Are "stepper" motors long lasting? Also, how do you determine what size motor is needed for a specific task?

For this device it will only move a fraction of an inch ... but it will need to lift something that is fairly heavy.. a couple ounces maybe.. straight up on a track-like construct... over and over for a long long period of time.. years -- or as long as possible.
