I couldn't believe it. I woke up and the air conditioner was off in my bedroom. I didn't even think about the electricity being off because I could here my son's television blasting cartoons. I got up to turn the lights on in my room so I could see the controls on the A/C in my window no power. So i figured it was the circiut breaker. Nothing was wrong there. So I went outside to check the meter and sure enough heres the problem. I forgot to pay the bill and the power had been disconnected. I called the power company to pay my bill by debit card. Needless to say I just had to ask why I still had power in some parts of my apartment. The guy laughed at me and told me it was no way possible. Everytime I tell somebody about this. they don't understand how I had power either. Most don't even believe me. Somebody tell me. How did I still have partial electricity?

so that space ships would merely have to push off to get into space rather than strap a ton of explosives and prayer to your back and hope you make it. or would that put strain on the gravity of the earth causing it to crumble? we have the resources why not do it, unless there is some reason not too.

After the Chernobyl accident, how did the Soviet government find operators to work the remaining reactors? Didn't they know that they could be killed? I know that there were workers up until the shutdown in 2000. What did all those workers do after they lost their jobs?

I'm curious and would like to know what anybody else may know on the subject.

This also goes for all the other "miracle" magnetic products around - i.e. magnets that "ionise" your fuel so your fuel efficiency improves etc...

I know there are many wacky ideas - but as these items are strongly marketed there must be some strong theory behind it - any links to research papers much appreciated.

A velocity selector only lets through charged particles moving at a velocity v, where v = E/B (E is electric field and B is magnetic field). In order for the velocity selector to work properly:

a) The motion of the charged particle must be perpendicular to both the electric and magnetic fields.
b) Electric and magnetic field must be perpendicular to one another.
c) All of the above.
d) None of the above.

I've noticed over the past year an increasing number of these odd poles. They are like lamp posts, but with no light at the top. There is a more bulbous part at the top about 2-3m long maybe. Also there is always some sort of metal box at the base (? containing some electric/electronic equipment). My first guess was these were 3G phone masts, but I've seen several quite close together along a street e.g. 100-200 metres apart, so it seems too close for mobile phone masts. It must be some sort of communication device. Can anyone help?
