i have a cheap $1 laser pointer and i was thinking that i could make my own like the laser pens. so if you could help thanks.

You can buy laser diodes and build your own but they're "notoriously fussy" (per ref. 1). Also check out ref 1's link to the Sam Goldwasser laser info (ref. 2).

i have a cheap 40cent (US) laser pointer that came with the lighter. battery included. i dont know where its made. mabe in korea or china...

components:

1 laser diode
3 button cell 1.5V batteries.

i wonder how much money they used to manufacture such a cheap thing... we import them here, yet they're still so cheap.
