I was once watching TV and caught the tail end of a program that was about some kind of fruit that grows in Alaska and in rich soil of the glaziers. They were having a contest as who would be growing the largest of this fruit. I can't remember the name of the fruit! Was suppose to grow very large and it had a pointy skin around it. I went to my local grocery store and had asked about it and they haven't a clue.

when i was in orlando, fl there were trees planted that has smooth bark, kind of light grey-brown. they also had thick thorns growing on the trunk, they were round and looked like ice cream cones sticking out of the bark. i can't remember the leaves but the 20 foot trees were covered with dark pink flowers that resembled star-gazer lilies.

they were gorgous, but i can't remember what they are called or any info you all could tell me would be great!!

thanks
