I was once watching TV and caught the tail end of a program that was about some kind of fruit that grows in Alaska and in rich soil of the glaziers. They were having a contest as who would be growing the largest of this fruit. I can't remember the name of the fruit! Was suppose to grow very large and it had a pointy skin around it. I went to my local grocery store and had asked about it and they haven't a clue.

Josh, I think you hit on something in refards to watermelon. I don't remember it being that but could very well be a melon of some variety that grows up there? Tom

It sounds like some kind of squash. They would grow pretty large up there. I would say watermelon or pumpkin but that don't explain the pointy skin.
