Three lab science courses are required in my state to graduate, so it's not like I wanted this class. In a few weeks we will be doing fetal pig dissections--something I am strongly, ethically against.

They can't force me to do it, can they? I wouldn't mind writing a twenty page essay on the subject, but I refuse to actually take part in this cruel practice. I would almost understand if the class was about eight students who were truly dedicated to science, but most of the kids won't use this information later in life and laugh at the creature who wasn't able to live.

Help?

So im outside of my house and i hear this crazy sound. I look ver and see something fall from a tree. I walk over and a locust and what im guessing was a hornet (yellow and maybe partly red) Were going at it in the grass. The hornet came out victorious bit off the locusts wing and then just flew away. I picked up the locust it was partially alive and i put it back down. I came back a few hours later and there was a huge gaping whole in the locust. What happened? Did the hornet lay something in it?

Is all the extra weight that the American populous is carrying around a significant amount of carbon? If every person in America became optimal weight what would be resultant effect on the environment? Where would all that mass go? Into the air as CO2 or into the sewer as solid waste? Or does it not matter because most of the weight is H2O because the human body is over 90% H2O?

Don't you wish you got extra credit for helping others get their degrees?

There are a lot of animals that are becoming extinct some because of what we humans are doing, but isn’t that part of evolution? One animal becomes dominant and then those that cannot cope with the domination become extinct. Others evolve so that they can cope with the dominating species?

And why do we have to try and save some animals? Maybe nature is getting rid of them for a reason, such as the dinosaurs. What happens when we are interfering and trying to help animals, and plants for that matter, that genetically and evolutionarily are no longer needed?

People say we over fish, that’s because there is a large number of the human species. People protest and try and help fish numbers. What if, for example, lion populations expanded because the conditions were right, such as it is for Homo sapiens now, and that meant there were more of them, resulting in caribou numbers declining. Are we going to call it overcaribouing? No, probably not. Are we going to try and save caribou numbers? Why would we need to as it is just the path of nature. A group of the caribou might evolve to outrun them for example but if we interfere to try and ‘help’ them then we might actually be stuffing up that evolutionary process. Then some people would want to reduce the number of lions and start killing them. That would also not be good for the balance of nature.

no one has been able to give a good answer to these mysteries, its apparent that some form of intelligence created them but who and how? This really intresting seeing all of our so-called great minds trying to come up with a reasonable answer then come away scratching their heads.surely we can do better than that or can we?my answer is i dont think we are as advanced as we think we are inspite of all the advancements we have made. I really think the bible holds the key to these questions because noone has been able to discredit the bible and that may be why we argure about it so much is because we are just not intelligently advanced to understand it & we dont study it.But this could be the answer to many questions.

if we accept evolution is true, why did humans evolve to be (mostly) hairless? wouldn't it be more advantageous to have fur or full body hair so we wouldn't have to make clothes to keep us warm? i thought the point of evolution was to retain the most useful traits and discard those that threaten survival.

and why do women have less body hair than men? and why do both men and women have hair in certain areas on their bodies?

can anyone explain this from an evolutionary perspective (or indeed any other)? thanks
