Sometimes they are dark green, sometimes they are light green, when I was young they were light brown.

I know about Mendel, so I am not asking about genetics. I understand pigmentation and melanine. What I want to know is what substances or chemicals cause the infinite variations in eye color shades we see around us all the time.

I've always been annoyed by people chewing, and I don't know how but I've learned to somehow make a noise to block it out. I can't do it for long and no one else ever hears it, Its just just like a little hum or so in my ears. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on to cause this?

Seriously, if global warming is real, and the weather is getting warmer and warmer, how will animals know when to hibernate. I live in NY, NY, its December 27, we haven't seen any snow, yet squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits (i live in the burbs) can still be seen. Is hibernation a necessary proccess for these animals? How is global warming affecting them?

And it has always been there. I'm not talking about a zit or like I bonked my head on something, it seems to be a part of my skull. It is above my right eyebrow, almost by the hairline. It is only really noticeable when the light hits it the right way, it's about the size of a dime, and it's hard like bone to the touch. It never hurts or anything, I just wonder why it's there...

A study was conducted in the U.K. in 2001 which determined that the gene that causes red hair + freckles in people is a very old gene (dating 50,000 - 100,000 years).
Modern man (Cro-Magnons) didn't come about until approximately 40,000 years ago, so it is believed that the red hair gene comes from Neanderthals. What are your thoughts on this?

I think it's possible, especially because Neanderthals lived in a very cold environment (Ice Age Europe). Red heads are pale, and pale skin is associated with cold environments. I could easily picture Neanderthals being pale and having red hair.
