Most flexor muscles are located on the anterior aspect of the body and most extensors are located posterior. What extensor-flexor musculature is the exception to this generalization?

The muscles associated with the knee joint are against this convention. The knee flexes posteriorly. The large muscle groups are the quadriceps-extensors and the hamstring-flexors.

The quadrecep group in the anterior part of the upper legs are extensor muscles.

The hamstring group in the posterior thigh are flexor muscles.
