I've always been annoyed by people chewing, and I don't know how but I've learned to somehow make a noise to block it out. I can't do it for long and no one else ever hears it, Its just just like a little hum or so in my ears. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on to cause this?

The blood makes a noise as it flows in your ears. You may be directing your attention to that.

I can do something like this too. It feels like tensing a muscle in there, and perhaps the tremor of the muscle is making the noise. This sounds like an Aspie thing to do. Are you an Aspie?
