We saw a large object leaving a flaming trail heading towards earth and were trying to figure out if it was an asteroid or shuttle reentry, etc.

Ok so I was in BJ'S reading the world record book and it said the highest temperature is believed to be infinite..which was the temperature during the big bang theory....So somehow the idea of infinite temperature does not seem like a logical concept. Or I just can't think logically....So can someone please break it down in a way which I can understand???????? thanksss

Hey, you ppl think by the year 2012-2014 there will be a mission to mars?

I heared in The Science Channel that they will be going before the year 2014 and in CNN hey also said it. Also i had a speaker at my school last year that works for NASA, and he said that by the year 2012-2013 they will be going to Mars no doubt about it. I bealive that they are, since we have the technology to get there already. And by the stuff ive seen and heard.

What do you think?

Through hubble, we see images of galaxies very far away from earth (million &billion light years). So the images we are seeing are how those galaxies would have looked like million & billion yrs ago.

But how do we know that those galaxies exist right now?

It is a Celestron Powerseeker 114EQ Newtonian. I cant see any detail on planets. I cant even see them as clear cut discs. I cant be looking at the wrong places as where I am looking lines up with my star maps . The telescope is 4.5 inch by the way. I have tried mags up to 350x with no luck. Is it possible that the collimation could be out. I can get perfect views of the moon but that doesnt prove anything.

I was watching a programme called universe and to my amazement, there are more stars out there than grains of sand on all the beaches in the world. Do you think the odds on finding life out there is quite high?

The human mind cannot comprehend endless space.

If all that we see in the universe came from the BIG BANG ,
how can it be BIG when compared to endless space?

The BIG BANG is small and almost disapears compared to endless space. No such thing as BIG in endless space.?

Could the BIG BANG be a " small bang " instead ?

This 'GAP' video splash is driving me (and a whole lot of others) CRAZY!
How long does it take to act?
I'm gettin' a little flippy here!

As an aside, and before I get torched...
I realize that this question isn't at all related to 'Astronomy & Space', but this is where I spend my time...

Why the Muslims disagree about the starting of Islamic month which is based on sightation of Crescent moon, if one group says that the new month has started, the others will disagree and argue that its not the 1st day of the new Lunar month, some Muslims will start their month on the 3rd day of new Islam month. Why can not agree on one date?

An asteroid is supposed to crash into Mars some time next month. I heard about this only two days ago. Did our astronomers just find out about this asteroid?
