This 'GAP' video splash is driving me (and a whole lot of others) CRAZY!
How long does it take to act?
I'm gettin' a little flippy here!

As an aside, and before I get torched...
I realize that this question isn't at all related to 'Astronomy & Space', but this is where I spend my time...

What do you guys (and ladies) think?

Hello Mercury, and thanks for weighing in!
No, they didn't make a promise directly to me, but check this out:

and you'll see what I am talking about.
This thing is REALLY grating on my nerves, here at the lowest stress (LOLLOLLOL) time of the year!
AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Hey d y;
It'd be cool if you could just 'refresh' and the thing went away, but if you do, the d4mned thing just starts over again!

I'm SO happy that I'm not alone in my (obvious) frustration with this...
I'd say (without ANY reasonable doubt, now), I'm definitely not flying solo on this.

This is cool!

for those wishing to boycot
gap owns OLD NAVY, BANANA REPUBLIC and PIPER LIME too.

did they make a promise to you? what did they promise. I want some juicy details on that empty promise.

(we should all mark this question as interesting to bring it to the attention of the public instead of yahoo... its the public that will govern the acceptableness of this ad, not really yahoo management)

I don't expect them to remove it anytime before Christmas.

I'd expect them to have a contract they might find difficult to back out of.

don't hesitate to complain though, since it should help them make better decisions in the future.

I'm really glad to see that there are people out there besides myself that find that ad just as annoying. I though I was just crazy and bitter against commercialization.

check out the other complaints here.

I think yahoo probably already knows about the problems its caused.

My protest will to just simply be to NOT MAKE A PURCHASE FROM THE GAP --------------- EVER AGAIN.

I sent a message to Gap customer service, and I got a "form e-mail" in return. You are correct that Yahoo (on their forum) said that they were working to remove audio ads, but they specifically did not mention this one. I personally think it's an integrity issue on the part of both Yahoo and Gap. I also object to having to clutter up my disk with more blocking software to get around this integrity issue. I sort of want to see how long it takes them - probably until Christmas. I think there is something to be said for the position that they do not care. If they did, they would have removed it by now.

We needn't worry about the Gap ad. Yahoo has repeated the thing at such an insane frequency that I hurl a little everytime I see the name GAP. I am almost sure that the Gap will be going out of business after this, and Yahoo's mad pop-up machine will be going along with it. What a stupid way to run a campaign.

I didn't realize they actually had people working for Yahoo! I mean, when I've had questions about my account, there don't seem to be. Just a bunch of bots and auto-mailers. So maybe you should try to get a hold of the administrative bot-making bot and tell it we need a bot for registering commercial complaints.

People? Pshright!

(THX-1138 ?)

Edit: If I hadn't had to work on Nov. 30, I definitely would have signed up for that Yahoo get-together in Washington and gone down there to see if there were any organic entities, or just those sweet avatars, projected onto a screen.

I don't think Yahoo cares.
They want to make money.
Plus you have administrative people telling the regular employees to promote this crap, and it's not like the administrative people are gonna listen. It's the christmas season, why not try an get a chunck of money from gap. Yahoo, it seems, is the best medium for their greedy minds.

So, ya know, it's crap, but it's the interenet.

I find the thing highly irritating, too. I could tolerate it if it would run once and then be happy with itself, but it keeps replaying over and over ...

I turned the sound off, but that's not a good solution.

I wish I was more technosavvy...

I agree, that little splash thingy is "wack"! It would be okay if they like changed it up so we can get freaky over some thing else from time to time.
