Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Pluto. Planetary names have come from legends and myths (and, just maybe, personal experiences). What's up with letters /numbers - boring! Where's the compelling wonder in XYZ123? What name would you give to the next planet, and why?

I personally think light has been moving from day one and today we think it's the universe expanding at the speed of light. It really is light just going and showing us what the universe is because we see things when light falls on them. Thinking the universe is expanding is like what people thought in the past that the earth was not moving and the sun was moving. Well, you will prove me right in future that light just reveals what is already there so the universe isn't expanding at all.

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am . It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Has any one heard about this?

What would happen to our way of life if we viewed objects in three or four dimensional? Would this ability expand our minds or totally freak us out?

One thing that has always intrigued me about the rings of Saturn ISN'T the seven rings around it but the clear, uniform spaces IN-BETWEEN those rings! It would seem as though all rings would form into one big ring. What is it that keeps clear spaces between the rings?

I watched some weird documentary on it... something about there are actually 2 parallel universes and where they end they are like.. wiggly!?! and when the wiggles hit eachother they cause a "big bang"
this means
there are probably an infinite number of universes, and big bangs happen all the time.
here is the link to the documentary:

tell me your thoughts and if someone could summarize that in like.. "parallel universe for dummies" form. Half of it i didnt understand but it reallly interested me!

I have recently come up with a theory as to how astrology affects us. First of all, astrology can be the most grounded of all sciences as it is based on our universe and planets..i mean how much more grounded can you get?

What my theory is that: astrology is basically how the position of planets affect our mood and events surrounding us. each planet has a gravitational pull- some sort of magnetic power. Our brains have neurons, which also have electric charge and my theory was that depending on the position of the planets, our brains/neurons feel the pull of their gravity/magnetic power.

What do you guys think? I mean I was not able to write it very clearly, but that is the gist of it.

Thanks!

Since the earth is spinning there is a part of the force of gravity that is used for the centripetal force.

If we stopped spinning i would assume we would feel heavier. Would we notice it?

I think in the far future a meteor will hit the the earth but I think it won't be in our lifetime. Our the sun will fade away and the ice age would be back and our earth will freeze over. I know this sounds crazy but I do think it's possible. I'm saying like in a million years there's a chance but in our lifetime I don't think but you never know.

I'm not really sure I used accurate words in my Q, but as we know the surface of the sun is filled with grains, which pass light through. Why is it so?

instead its axis is perpendicular to the line between the sun and Earth. The most predictable effect of this change would be

a no more night and day
b a big change in the length of the year
c a cooling of the equator
d a loss of seasonal variations at anorther and souther latitutes
e the elimination of ocean currents

i tink its the seasonal one but i'm not sure... thanks!
