i am looking for a website that tells you what planets, stars, constellations, etc. can be seen and when they can be seen.

what you are looking for is called an ephemeris. google it.

I recommend the programme which is free to download from the site below.
This will show you the sky from any location on earth and track it all in real time. You can also fast forward or backwards. It is very easy to use. I look out of my window and see exactly the same as on my VDU screen.
It is the best that I have ever seen and I have investigated every similar programme I could find on the internet.

I don't know about websites. New York Times newspaper online has that info every Tuesday or Wednesday, don't remember which day exactly, check it out!

If you go to this site, you can download a copy of freeware called Cartes du Ciel that is as good as any astronomy software out there.
