This is a fair quesion, I am totally ignorent on why and I don't know the benefits of this spending. Also wouldn't it be better to spend money on medicine and things like that which have much higher chance of making money back?

Lets say the first broadcast being July 1, 1941, although there were earlier broadcasts these were concidered experimental. Lets also presume the signal radiated sphericaly and would have travelled 66 light years.

I know it's an odd question but it's reality. Come on...they were out in space for almost a week (or so they say) and in that time period i'm almost for certain they did have to go one time or another. Also, I wonder how the little turd shot out since gravity was not there to help it travel to it's appropriate course. Did they have to try and catch the thing?...Grrrross.

I've heard of binary solar systems where the galaxy contains two suns, but is it possible, do you think, for a galaxy to hold three or more suns where, if you were standing on one of it's planets you would be aware of three primary sources of light and/or heat?
