I firmly believe that evolution is the answer. The theory has not been around as long as creation, but it is a way to explain how humans came to be through science. Religion has a tendency to grab everything that is not immediately explainable and take credit for it.
> Historical evidence would suggest rather strongly that we were created in our present form. To date, there is no good evidence to suggest that evolution was genetically possible. So that leaves recorded history versus theory. I'm going with history in this case, since it's verifiable documentation spans over 2000 years. Evolution.....not so much.

If you look at the skeletons of various apes, you can clearly see the similarities between them. The evolution to current Homosapien could have been a quick dirty change to solve a problem, or a long slow change. Humans were not the largest animals, nor the strongest, instead we defeated our opponents with our intelligence and wit. Not to mention your history does not work out to well either. Just because there aren't documents of an event doesn't mean that it didn't happen. I've got this strange feeling that the people fighting for their lives, their food, and their shelter didn't have much time to learn to write and read to entertain you 160,000 years later.
Simply believing in your religion because your parents did is a foolish decision, go out read about every religion decide which makes sense to you. Read about atheism as well, religion is a way to increase self importance and to believe in something greater then yourself. Unfortunately religion leads to blind acceptance instead of science.

I am no atheist nor am I a Christian but I have my believes. To be honest with you I think its a mixture of both god and evolution. I mean scientist say that "The Big Bang" created the universe right? Well what created the big bang? I don't think anyone knows to be honest. but anyway getting back to the topic. I think god created our race. Over time the continents divided and most of the people got stuck on the pieces of it. Most of the peaces drift to different climates of the world for example , warm , cold, hot, and mild climates. Then evolution took charge in order for humans to survive. Like if there where humans on a hot climate there skin darkened so that they could with stand the sun's rays. People on cold climates got lighter because either the lack of sun light or either to blind in with there climate and to hide from enemies. Over time they evolved into different races and established different cultures. That's how I think we all started out.

by the word of God. evolution is not science. science is something that can be proven by recreating what is assumed. you can't recreate evolution. we can't recreate what God did because it is beyond mortal man. when you take an objective look at evolution, you find it disproves itself- it has no foundation. also, look at your question: if we evolved then we were not created. it takes more faith to believe in evolution than in the biblical account of creation. it takes a lot of faith to believe that all the order around us evolved out of a gaseous belch in the universe six billion years ago. i don't have that much faith. if massive objects crashed into eachother causing the big-bang, where did those objects come from? the laws of physics that would govern something like that(and everything else) did not create themselves. you don't get order out of chaos unless someone with ample power, authority and inteligence is there to put things into order. there is a God and that God has spoken to us so that we may know Him. we are created by God for God. try getting some videos by a guy by the name of KEN HAM, if your interested.

I believe in the heart of good people. I'm partly with Christianity, but mixed with a science mind.
I say... The universe was created by an implosion of animatter and matter, the Big Bang, according to theories, and that the unexplainable explosion thing was created by God.

Spoken into existence by a single sentence.
Interestingly enough, the word universe just so happens to mean 'single sentence'

For me personally, my parents were depending on the rhythm method of family planning.
I assume your parents had something to do with your own creation.
