As a young researcher and student in physics and neuroscience, I ask you this: With all your research and your understanding of everything around us, what is this universe we know? Is it just space-time?

Hopefully as I accomplish more in science I will be able to have a possible answer that I truly understand.

I understand this is all opinon, but if you could explain your answer and reasoning with much detail, I would be one step closer to finding out.

Ok, so I did some research on the parallax method on the internet, and got to know the basic ideas of what it is. But now I have a question, what is the point of wanting to know the distance of other stars from us? Does that have any impact on our understanding of the universe besides the how far it is?

Many thanks.

there are 3 options:
1. sunlight during planetary day penetrates the surface
2. gravitational energy released when particles accreted to form the planet and natural radioactivity within da planet.
3.nuclear fusion going on at the core like inside the sun but on a smaller scale.

The question is for a hypothesis I want to develop, and I was hoping for someone with a background in Astrophysics or Physics. But ant answer is cool, I guess since I only can only wonder about the answer, I couldent think of any experiment or event where someone tied a rope to the Earth and leave it unsecured to anything 420mi up or any distance past our atmosphere and see what would happen. I was wondering...

He says that they couldn't of landed on the moon because of when Neil Armstrong was putting the flag in the soil that it 'waved' and he said " there's no way that it could have waved because there isn't any wind on the moon"

I switched my skyquest XT6 for an XT8 since it's better for DSO's. I'm great at locating planets because they're bright, but the problem is when I use a book reference (e.g. Turn Left at Orion) to locate galaxies, etc. I have a 9X50mm correct-image right angle finderscope. When I look through it, I don't know where I am on the constellation I'm looking at relative to the other stars in the constellation. Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say? If the whole constellation was in my finderscope, I would know what I'm looking at, but only one or two stars of the constellation are in the finderscope (..I think). Moreover, I also see other stars among the constellation that don't belong to that particular constellation that I'm looking at, so the image looks NOTHING like what I see when I look up in the sky (which are the stars that are the most prominent in brightness). Should I get binoculars ? Is there a good BEGINNER book of the constellations?

assuming nothing destroys us before that - we have five billion years to prepare, but do you think we will be able to survive? What do you think scientists would do if there was no hope for any human survival?

I'm just kind of curious. We all know about height, width, and depth. And the 4th dimension is time, rite? What is after that? How can you visualize something beyond 3 dimensions?

How many power would a telescope need to be for us to see the junk we left on the moon? I realize the junk our astronauts left on the moon is pretty small so today's telescopes can't see any of it. What kind of magnification would we need to see that stuff from Earth or low Earth orbit? Assume a 6MP camera.

Astrologists say that the universe has no ending, it just keeps expanding and expanding as time goes on.
It's just weird because if you think about it, Humans start off really small and we grow, but we have a space to grow into, earths space to grow into. So really, when the universe is expanding where is it growing into? And does that give the possibility that theres a space for the universe and theres way way way more other universes out there? We already know theres many more galaxies. I don't know.. It's just so mind boggling to think about.
