What is taking us so long to explore other planets for new places to inhabit? When I was in school we were always told that man would have been able to live in pressurized homes on the moon. Where did all these "futuristic dreams" go?

I do undertsand it in relation to fuel and stuff, but if fuel isn't an issue, why couldn't a spacecraft inch its way off earth at like 20 m.p.h, all the way up to the moon? Sure, it would take a long time, but if it had an infinite fuel source, why would it need to reach a certain velocity? If it just kept going up at 20 m.p.h. eventually it would be in space, right? WHy would it need to reach some "escape velocity"? I don't undertsand this at all.

Sorry this might look stupid question but I have never used a telescope. I only see the pictures of NASA and other ones on the internet, about nebula and other superb images.

I know they are processed images and very distant ones, but can we see them like that through our telescope at house?

I want to use it for amateur observation. I am not science student, don't need it for any academic purpose. Just at home for use at nights sometime.

A couple of days ago, me and a few friends were sitting outside, and we started lookin at the moon...We started talking about the face on the moon, and i said i could sort of see it, and my friends really didnt see anything.. So i made the comment that The moon doesnt rotate, because i heard this somewhere, but i cant find any info on this... My friends didnt believe me and they said that the moon is always spinning and that it shows a diffrent side every night... Now im not sure if im wrong or not, i cant remember where i heard that it doesnt rotate from, but if anyone can clarify this for me, i would appreciate it.
