Like during the time of Columbus, sails were used to take ships across the oceans to new worlds. Will this space sail also take future explorers to worlds beyond the Earth?

Much attention is currently on the Myan people who created the basis of our calendar. Their calendar stops on 12-21-2012. The calendar predicts at sunrise on December 21, 2012 for the first time in 26,000 years the Sun rises to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life, a tree remembered in all the world's spiritual traditions. -The alien has a thick coat to keep ITS body warm.
