I realize everyone reading this will be dead and gone in 5 billion years; however it's interesting that we know (if you believe in the science) that our world will certainly be destroyed someday. We will probably destroy ourselves long before 5 billion years, but that is something we have at least some control over. Our suns death is something that is inevitable and most likely irreversible. Imagine if people are still around and they see signs that this is going to happen soon. Guess I'm in a weird mood, but I would like to hear some others opinions on the subject. I have heard this description on more reputable science sources but I will add a wikepdia link with more information.

If ordinary matter accretes onto a neutron star it becomes degenerate and turns into neutrons. If you reversed the process by scooping up some neutrons (density 2 billion tonnes/cubic cm.) and removing them from the neutron star's intense gravitational field, what would they reconstitute as?

I'm taking an astronomy class and this was a question on our study guide. I've searched the book and can't find a real answer for this and I don't quite understand. They have more mass, so according to the mass-luminosity relationship, shouldn't they be more luminous than what they actually are? Please help, I'm confused. Thanks!

In a closed universe, the universe collapses and heats up - sort of the big bang in reverse. Describe what happens to atoms as the temperature heats up.

My answer

I think that the atoms would move fast constant till they die?

NASA has just awarded you with 200 orbits of Hubble Space Telescope time (roughly 200 hours) to find distant galaxies. Is there a particular place in the sky that you would look to find such galaxies? Why or why not?

My answer to this...

Yes, Find a place that has a lot of galaxies close to each other because you would find so many unique galaxies in that particular place............right? lol help me

The closed universe (critical density greater than 1) is said to be unbounded (i.e. it has no edges), but finite in size. Explain was this means.

Finite in size as in galaxies, dark engery/matter, and black holes or...? Help me to explain this! thanks

I remember the old tv show of the 1960s 'The Time Tunnel" about two guys getting lost through time after an experimental miscalculation of a goverment projected time tunnel. of course we got the H.G. Wells novel "The Time Machine" made twice into the movies. Now, these are science fiction. Do you suppose someday humans will be able to travel through time and meet Napoleon, hope not to meet Attila the Hun...quite an unfriendly guy he was, or go to the mysterious future and see what will happen to our descendants? What do you think folks?
