A scientist reports the detection of an atomic particle that came toward his experiment from outer space at 4(10^5) km s^-1. What conclusion can we draw from this report?
a)he has made an error in his experiment, since such a speed i concidered to be impossible by all previous experiments.
b)this "particle" must have been a photon or quantum of electromagnetic radiation of very high energy in order to have traveled this fast.
c)this result is acceptable since atomic particles can travel this fast, whereas larger bodies are limited to 3(10^5) m s^-1.
d) This is an acceptable result for a particle originating from outer space, since particle speed from such regions is unlimited.

Last night me and my partner were fast asleep when at 1am he woke me up saying to get up quick as there was a fire downstairs! I could hear the crackling noise a fire makes when its spitting! I looked out the window to where he had just been looking and a bright orange light hurt my eyes (like when you first wake up and the lights are switched on) Although it didint appear to look like flames just bright orange light! I went downstaors to where my partner already was just letting the dogs outside - there was nothing there -no fire - the dogs bark at everything - even lights and they hadn't made a sound!?The kittens didnt look disturbed and they sleep in the room below us?!Our neighbour was hanging out her window as she had been woken too although when we mentioned we thought it was fire she said 'no'-she didn't know what it was but was sure it wasn't fire!? And asked if it had gone next door.My partner took the dogs and walked up our lane-nothing!? I cant sleep till i know what it was?

I know this seems like a weird question, but I am trying to think of a good name. I am going to be writing a novel that involves a futuristic settlement on the Red Planet. I may just use the best answer in that novel.

(It will be in part two of a trilogy. I am halfway finished with the first novel right now.)

Serious responses only please! Any 'cute' answers will be reported!

You could argue that there is no proof that "God" exists, or you could argue that he does exist. Just because he is mentioned in a mythological book does not mean that he exists. Granted many religious people are also scientists, and vice versa. For example, I have seen and answered many questions here regarding the creation of the universe. As expected, the devoutly religious go straight to one answer: God. And the other half go on to explain the Big Bang theory. I guess my question really is: Why can't religous people at least try to look at it from a point of view that really makes sense, as opposed to believing that an invinsible supernatural being that lives in the sky is responsible for all this?

It seems every 11 years the sun sends out an electromagnetic storm and it escalates in intensity each time. The next time it's suposed to reach out to the earth.
