If you are talking about the extinction of the dinosaurs when a large meteor hit the Earth and threw up thick clouds than made the world dark for a long time, nobody knows exactly what day it was.

The sky doesn't turn black, it turns blue. The sky is always black. We see blue because all those little particles in the sky spread visible light into its spectrum, and the one that is spread the most is blue.
