Please explain this to me... If i were to balance the equation Ch4+O2>CO2+H2O + energy, and i start with balancing the Oxygen atoms, then the Hydrogen, then the Carbon. Why do i end up with a different equation if i balance let's say....H first. Does the order the the elements matter? How can i do this correctly?

You might know me from my recent last question. I ran out of characters to right the question. No stupid answers like I don't want to help you do your homework or I will report you. Here is the last question. Thanks!
This one takes another picture:
There are 12 toothpicks making four squars. 4 toothpicks to make a cross and 8 toothpicks surround it in taking a shape of a big square. How do you have only two squares left and only take out 2 toothpicks? (If you take a random 2 I know you would have techinically have 2 squares but you would still have some remaining sticks. Also if you took a middle 2 toothpicks you would have two rectangles and square can be rectangles but rectangles can't be squares.)
